The Flower City Soccer League contributes to the personal, physical, and academic growth of urban youth through soccer. Coaches act as youth mentors to improve our player’s self esteem, respectful cooperation with others, fair play, problem solving, and how to balance individual accomplishments in favor of reaching objectives as a team.
FCSL provides safe and positive soccer environment and instruction for children from the City of Rochester. FCSL runs a house league with participation from various community centers, churches, schools, and YMCA’s. All teams are co-ed with five age groups: U10, U12, U14, U17 and “Sprouts” for children ages three to seven.
FCSL runs two sessions annually: the outdoor season runs from May to August and the indoor season runs from November to April. Approximately 500-600 children participate annually. Due to the economic demographic of youth living in the city (83% at or below the poverty line), cost is only $15 per session.
Flower City Soccer's primary funding source is Quad-A for Kids.
