On March 21st Flower City Soccer brought 5 teams to the Red Creek indoor soccer tournament. 3 teams took first place, 2 teams placed second.
In the U9 division, after losing the first game to Wayne, they won their next two games to place second place, and then played against Wayne in the finals. The final game went to over time where they lost 3-2.
The U11s had two teams in a seven team division. The A team won their three games 2-0, 5-0, and 11-0 to finish in first place with 18 1/2 points. The B team won their three games 5-0, 4-2, and 4-3 and finished in second place with 18 1/2 points. They played each other in the finals in a hard fought match, with the B team winning 3-1.
The U13 team finished in second place out of a field of 12 teams, winning 3-1, 1-0, and 1-0. In the final game they played against Williamson who finished in first place. The game was tied 1-1 until the last few minutes when Khalid Ibrahim scored on a loose ball in front of the net. Moments later, Khalid fed a nice pass to Aaron Langley who iced the game with just seconds remaining to win 3-1.
The U15 team also made it to the finals, winning their three games 9-2, 6-0, and 3-1, finishing in first place. They played second place Ambassadors, in a rematch of game three. The game was a battle, with the Ambassadors tying the game 3-3 with about a minute remaining in regulation time. Before regulation time ended, an Ambassador player was sent off for knocking Larry Morales II down from behind. Play was very chippy, to say the least. Less than one minute into the overtime, Jimell Allen, out of the Flint Street Rec Center, won the ball off of a drop ball, just outside of the Flower City three point line. He then unleashed a rocket that the Ambassador goalie couldn't handle to win the game.
